Korean biotech MGenbio to clone pigs
A new joint venture in South Korea called MGENBIO is the first company to successfully clone a pig for use in organ transplants to humans. The company was created by biotechnology firm Macrogen Ltd and livestock company Sunjin Co (KSE:14300).

MGenbio was set up with an initial investment of 1.5 billion won (US$1.16 million) and will be located in Gyeonggi Province, where a plant is currently being constructed.

The company will focus on the development of therapeutic cells, pig cloning for organ transplantation and transgenic medications.
