The incumbent will be expected to determine the full-length genome sequence of avian pneumovirus. This is a newly recognised virus in the U.S. that causes respiratory disease in turkeys. The long-term goal will be to recover infectious clones along with expression of virally encoded proteins. The research will be carried out at the Southeast Poultry Research Laboratory, Agricultural Research Service, USDA, Athens, GA. The starting salary will be $43,326/yr, with health and leave benefits. This is a two-year temporary appointment. A U.S. citizen or a citizen of a country which is a treaty
member with the U.S. may fill the position.
